CLOSING THE GALLERY

Dear Customers, Readers and Friends,
when I opened Mandala, my first gallery in the heart of Milan, in 1976, I certainly never imagined such a long journey: 50 years of work, research, and passion.

Each of the more than 60 trips I have made to Asia, from Afghanistan to Japan, has been a discovery and an emotion that I have felt the desire to share with customers and visitors from the very beginning.

It was from this intention that I organized more than 50 exhibitions on various aspects of Oriental art, from Central Asian jewelry to Gandhara sculptures, from Indian folk embroidery to ancient Chinese terracotta, from statues of Indian deities to portraits of mandarins, from Buddhist art to many others.

With over 30 catalogs published, bringing together an important collection of studies, some by well-known scholars, I wanted to provide a tool for understanding the works of art presented in the Gallery, so today I am truly proud to have been able to spread knowledge of Asian arts in Italy.

The opening of the current headquarters in Via Gesù in 1996 coincided with participation in important national and international events, among which I would particularly like to mention the exhibition on Indian art that I curated in 2013 at the Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso.

I have been so busy discovering new works and topics that I haven’t noticed the passing of time, so today I am surprised to announce the closure of the Gallery.

I would therefore like to thank all my customers, visitors, and readers who have shared my choices and appreciated my advice: it is also thanks to them that I have been able to continue my search for knowledge and beauty for so long.

I have decided to celebrate these intense 50 years of work by offering the works on display and many others for sale with a special offer that will begin on November 10 and end on December 20. The works will also be visible on my website www.renzofreschi.com in the Collections section.
