FEMALE HEAD

Giava, Majapait realm (period)
15th century
Sandstone
H. 10 cm

With her half-closed eyes, ineffable smile, large earrings mixted up with the curls and her somptuous tiara, this head seems to be the one of an apsara, a holy dancer. The holes on the surface of the stone don’t affect her fascination.
